What is a
Brain Orgy?

(besides being a silly name for creative coaching that weeds out folks who would be offended by my playful and irreverant approach)

It is creative visioning, brainstorming, ideating, iterating, and imagining; above all, it is a container for believing anything is possible (without losing a grip on the reality of your lived experience and your immediate context). It’s a place to offer your doubts and gremlins a snack and a cozy place to rest while we do The Work of entering a dream space where the constraints of your actual life serve as a structure and inspiration for what could be.

“If you are looking for a thought partner who will tell you the truth, hold you with tenderness, and breathe energy into the things you are thinking about: Caitlin is that partner. It's very rare to find a person who not only cares deeply for someone's journey and simultaneously can mine out the important threads to keep pulling on. They're a person who listens with their whole body, a coach who will hold the door for your nervous self, and a thought partner who speaks with the honesty required to actually move forward. 15/10 would highly recommend any amount of thinking time with Caitlin on your team.”

It's hard to imagine what the state of my creative life would be if I never met Caitlin. I've always been a writer, always managed to pretty freely put words on the page. But after meeting Caitlin, my creative practice expanded wildly. They have a way of making every creative inkling feel possible, and worth following. From personal practices that they've shared – like blind contour drawings and body maps – to books that they've recommended, like The Artist's Way, I truly believe that sharing creative space with Caitlin has irrevocably changed the ways that I think about making, creating, and processing. And has made every moment of my life feel inherently creative.

Caitlin’s excitement for work that matters is genuine and infectious. I’ve seen them in action. They help you tap into the power of who you are and what you dream, and teaches you to speed-skate through any doubts or preconceived obstacles you may be holding, as if your idea already exists, and your job is to release it into the world in its most ideal form. Transformative work takes shape through their guidance.

This scrappy, queer midwesterner, ex-evangelical, homeschool kid refuses to accept social norms or perfectionism as reasons to not do the thing.

I know a thing or two about disruption and rewriting stories. Let’s do the damn thing, okay? Let’s enter a portal of imagination and question everything.

You & me, for one hour. Nothing else exists.

  • What I bring to the conversation

🍎 Seven years of teaching visual thinking and problem solving through the lens of design

🏆 BFA in graphic design / MFA visual art

🔧 A lifetime of making what I want with what I already have

🧠 A neuro spicy brain that is easily excitable by new ideas, projects, and possibility

🦄 A deep belief in your ideas, I can see your potential and want to mirror that back to you (spoiler, I’m an enneagram 3)

💛 I’m always thinking about how to parent and re-parent ourselves (I’ll be asking about little you)

  • We're a good fit if:

🪨 You’re stuck in the middle of your creative process and need help getting out

💡 You have an idea but don’t know where to begin

🔍 You want to see a project, idea, or problem from a different point of view

🍄 You’re ready to take pleasure and play seriously in your work

This is NOT a therapy session – I’m here for the full range emotions and experiences, bring the hard stuff, the messy bits – bring your full humanity to our work together! I just want to be incredibly clear that I am not a therapist and have no clinical training. I’m deeply curious about my own healing and nervous system, polyvagal theory, internal family systems, etc, and integrate these things into my work as a layperson not as a professional.
